Receipt of revolving machine

For which type of machine :

The machines of criticality 1, i.e. vital or presenting a strategic nature (machines without redundancy, machines for which spare parts are unavailable or prohibitively expensive, etc ). Generally, it is necessary for us to commission the machines at the manufacturer before installation and upon initial start-up on site in order to takeinto account the interactions between the fluids and surrounding structure and between the machine and the surroundind structure. It is also advisable to test immediately prior to the expiration of the manufacturer's guarantee or upon the appearance of strong vibrations, to determine their origins. Analysis immediately before planned maintenance shut-downs allows problems to be specifically targered or can allow maintenance schedules to be extended if no potential problems are detected.

How to carry out the initial vibratory analysis ?

Primarily, it is necessary for us to describe the various vibration characteristics which can lead to failures. We can classify them in eight families :

- periodic phenomena directly related to the kinematics of the machine (unbalance, misalignement, meshing ...);

- periodic phenomena not related to the kinematics of the machine (bearing instability, acoustic coupling, phantom frequencies, shaft cracking ...) and the phenomena related to the thermal expansion ;

- phenomena with random characteristics (cavitation, bearing, etc );

- transient phenomena ;

- impulsive periodic phenomena (periodicshock), such a deteriorated tooth on a pinion, a broken mounting, etc ;

- proximity of excitation frequencies to resonant frequencies or critical shaft frequencies ;

- direct or indirect insulation phenomena ;

- phenomena related to operating conditions (acoustic standing wavesVon Karmann turbulence, cavitation ...).

Considering the variety of machines, environmental conditions, operating conditions and potential defects, building an initial vibratory analysis is a complicated prposition. For each problem we define a methodological process adapted to the specific needs of each case.
